Pursuit of Passion = Engaged Learning

I always look forward to visiting campuses and working with teachers and students. I learn so much from having conversations with them. Students are honest about how and what they are learning. I had the opportunity to visit a fifth grade class that was working on a Pursuit of Passion project. I was so inspired by these students! They explained their projects with such confidence and they were applying concepts learning in the classroom to the real world. EVERY student was ENGAGED in LEARNING! I filmed a few students explaining the reason they chose their topic, research and interview techniques they used, and the importance and impact of their project. I was simply amazed at some of their comments.

“I believe my research on genetics and autism can change the world.”
“I have always been interested in the solar system and this project allows me to go deeper.”
“I want to be a meteorologist and my project on global warming is related to my career goal.”
“I am working with the Fort Worth Zoo and I am creating a website so that people can make donations to save endangered animals. I have created a brochure and presentation so that I can educate others with my research.”
